Yes, it can be pretty confusing to figure out where to put the code for one of those layouts. But, once you have done it a time or two, you’ll find that it is very easy. Just go to your home page, then click on Edit Profile.

Once this next page finishes loading, click on Interests and Personality. When you are in the Interests and Personality section, scroll down until you see the About Me section, which is right below the Headline section.

Beneath the About Me section, you will see Edit. Click on this. Now, you are at the space where you edit the About Me section, and this is where you are going to put the code for your pre-made layout.

You’ll want to copy and paste the code into the About Me section – it doesn’t really matter just where. Once this is done, click on the Preview button. If everything looks okay to you, go ahead and click on Submit. You can go ahead now and click on View Profile to see how the finished product looks!

• How can I make my MySpace profile private?

Many people are interested in the answer to this question! This option is rather well hidden, which maybe why so many people have to ask to find out how to accomplish this. Here’s what to do. First, log into MySpace. Then, click on the Account Settings link from the Home page. Once you are inside of the Account Settings section, you’ll want to click on the Privacy Settings link. You’re now in the section where you can adjust these settings to your heart’s content. Oh, and to make your profile private, just click on My Friends Only.

• How do I add music to my MySpace profile?

Again, log into MySpace. Once you get to the Home page, you’ll need to click on Account Settings. Once you are inside the Account Settings link, look for Song and Video on Profile, and click on that. Once the page has loaded for this section, you’ll want to click on Find A Band in MySpace Music. Then, do a search for the artist of the song you want to add to your profile, or you can search for the title of the song itself. Once you have found and decided upon the song you want, just click on the Add link that is right there on the right of it.

You have probably seen these cursors as you make your way around MySpace and look at other people’s profiles. And if you haven’t seen them, you will be surprised and delighted when you do. These animated cursors make for cool MySpace layouts that you will be proud of! With the copied code in your clipboard, navigate to your MySpace profile page. This is possibly the easiest part of the whole procedure. Why is this so easy? Because you can  place – and paste – the code into any of the text boxes that you see on your profile editing page. Just what could be considered as retro that could be included in the design of a MySpace layout? There are many examples, and we will list a few of them here. Fashion from a bygone era has always been considered as retro. A layout that featured a Poodle skirt and saddle oxfords would be considered retro, as would one with a Cadillac from that time period. The Peace symbol is considered retro, a part of the 60s that never went away, just like the bright yellow Smiley Face we all know and love.

Paisley print is also associated with the 60s, and you can find layouts that include this pattern as a background. “Flower Power” was a term for non-violence and opposition to the Vietnam War, and it was used in the 60s by those who were living the “hippy” lifestyle and who were also known as Flower Children. Note that there are quite a few more acronyms and expressions used on MySpace than will be listed in this article. They are left out for a simple reason. Some of them speak of or hint at scenarios or bodily practices that are not suitable for younger teenagers to read about. Anyone who is interested in ferreting out the ones not included should have no trouble doing so by doing a series of web searches, but be aware that these acronyms are meant for adult eyes.

These expressions are not normally found in a MySpace layout, although certain widgets for MySpace act somewhat like virtual blackboards. They allow visitors to the profile containing them to leave notes, which may well be left in “code”. So, even though they are not included in a layout, they may certainly be found on a layout. MySpace language can also be used in comments left for others, as well as in private MySpace email.

Why is there a need for a special language for MySpace? It is generally thought that the lexicon is used in the interest of saving time. It’s faster to type in an acronym than it is an entire word. This is why those who send text messages on cell phones also use many of the same expressions – it’s faster, and you can say more in a small space. Since the

The features on MySpace Instant Messaging are just super. The application takes nothing away from your free MySpace layout. It doesn’t take up too much screen real estate, or clutter the screen. Instead, it is a neat little app that will surprise you with its talent! Not only are you able to send and receive instant messages, you can also view someone’s profile, send photos to your friends as easily as dragging and dropping, stream any music that catches your attention from a profile you’ve been browsing right to your IM application, view your MySpace E-mails and Bulletins, Friend Requests, get an alert when you have new Comments and new Messages, and more. And, perhaps best of all, this amazing application that can do so much is absolutely free!

All you have to do to get your hands on this new IM is download it. As of this writing, it does not “play well” with Windows Vista, but works like a charm with Windows XP, 2000, and 98. You must also be using a PC, as there is no Mac version just yet. You can download from within the MySpace web site. Once it is downloaded, just follow the directions that come with the file to open and get MySpace IM up and running.

First, you will need to sign in to the application. You’ll use the same email account and password that you use to sign in to your MySpace account. You’ll have three options to choose from here. MySpace IM can save your password, automatically log in for you, or allow you to sign in as Hidden, so that just in case you want to quickly check something and then sign out, your friends won’t think you are ignoring them!

Next, you will need to decide which of your friends you want to add to MySpace IM. There are options to add your Top Friends only, add all of your Friends up to 200 only, or search for Friends to add. You should really only add the people who you want to talk to on a regular basis. If by chance some of these people do not have MySpace IM installed on their machine, you will be given the option to send them an invitation. Now that you have your Friends listed on the application, what’s next?

This is where the fun starts! Everyone that you have added to MySpace Instant Messaging can be contacted by means of the application. You can tell when they are online (unless they chose the Hidden option) share photos with them, and hear music that they may have included with their MySpace layout.
