So you’ve joined MySpace and have your basic profile in place. You’ve made and received a few Friend Requests, but things seem to be moving along a little too slow for you. What can you do to really get noticed?

One important rule is that the more you put into MySpace, the more satisfaction you will get out of it, and the more appealing it will be to others.  This is true when it comes to making friends on the site as well as building your profile page. Let’s start with your profile page. You really want your page to be a little different from the thousands of others out there! There are tons of resources all over the Web that you can use to make you page a stand out work of art that visitors will remember and want to visit again and again.

It is helpful to have a theme for your profile page, be it music, sports, television or movies, or whatever hobbies you may have. By doing this, you will attract others who have the same interests as you, as well as those who just appreciate a well-done web page. Photos are always quite popular to browsers, and the more photos you have on your profile, the more popular it will be. Slideshows and videos are also attention-getters.

Make sure your page is easy to read and contains interesting content which will hold your reader’s attention.  People will return to your page often to see if you have added anything new, and most will leave a comment, which will build up your Comments section nicely.

An Easy Way to Hide Your Last MySpace Login

There are many reasons why you might want to hide the details of your last login to MySpace. Maybe you just want to jump on and check your comments or email messages without your friends knowing that you were on that day. Maybe you access MySpace from work, and don’t necessarily want your co-workers or boss to see that you have been browsing the site during work hours. Whatever your reasons, if you would like to make your home page a bit less revealing, you can apply this easy and quick tweak to hide not only your last login information, but your basic personal information such as sex, age, and location. Your friends already know this information, and in today’s climate of cyber-stalkers, having a not so personal information box can be a good thing.

Don’t be nervous about applying this code to your profile page. If for some reason you don’t like the results and want to change your information back to the MySpace default, it is as simple to do as highlighting the code, deleting it, and saving the results. MySpace allows you to view all changes before they are made, so you can see how everything on your profile looks before you finalize and save.

Go to your MySpace Home Page. Click on Edit profile. This is the first selection in the information box that contains your photo. If you see the words “Profile Edit” and “Interests and Personality” you will know you’re in the right place. Directly below the “Save All Changes” and “Preview Profile” buttons, you will see a text field with the word “Headline” in front of it. Most people place a comment or favorite expression in the headline box. Below this information is your basic info - sex, age, city, state, and country. Under that you’ll see the Online Now Icon, and your Last Login details. The two codes below will not only hide your Last Login, but all the other information as well. All anyone who views your profile will see is your Headline text.  Both codes do the exact same thing. Two are provided here just in case one suits your computer better.

Display Your Top Ten Favorite Movies on Your MySpace Profile

Are you a movie buff who would like to tell the world – or at least everyone who views your MySpace profile – what your top ten favorite movies are?  There is finally a great tweak that will let you do just that! It’s so simple, and you can choose from more than one image to display on your profile in order to create just the look you are after.

Do a web search for “MySpace DVD cover generator”. These generators will search the web for images from the cover of your favorite movie DVD, and present them to you along with the code needed to place the image on your profile. All you need to do is enter the title of your movie into the generator. It will return with a page of images from that movie, most of them DVD covers. Beneath each image will be a code that will allow you to place the image on your profile.

It’s easy to use the code. Just copy and paste it into the “Movies” section of your profile once you have logged in to MySpace and navigated to the Edit Profile page. Of course, you can place your favorite movie images anywhere on your profile, but the “Movies” section seems custom-made for a top ten list.

Tops in every MySpace user’s arsenal are MySpace layouts. These hacks are popular in part simply because of the sheer number of them. These layouts can be found paired with other matching profile items such as contact tables, dividers, cursors, icons and images that all blend together to create a theme.

Layouts are the structure of your profile. They set the stage for everything else you do to the page. It is a fairly simple matter to find a layout or theme on any subject you choose, simply by doing a web search. There are premade layouts, and also hacks that allow you to use your own HTML code to truly customize your page by tweaking the default layout everyone starts with when they first sign up.
